Today, the encrypted cloud storage service Wuala announced, that they are shutting down. Wuala was founded in 2007 in Switzerland and sold to LaCie, a French manufacturer of external storage devices in 2009.
Two weeks ago a researcher group published a report titled Unauthorized Cross-App Resource Access (XARA) on MAC OS X and iOS about major security flaws in Apple’s operating systems. These vulnerabilities are caused by loose application-to-application and application-to-OS access permissions. For example, when you install an application on Mac OS X, it considers the application as trusted enough to access your Keychain.
Long, long, time ago, in early 2011, we - Andrea and Robert - started with the very first version of Boxcryptor. Boxcryptor was - originally - developed as an internal solution to secure our Dropbox. As we got more and more positive feedback, we decided to publish an early prototype of our encryption software and posted a link in the official Dropbox forum. According to SafeMonk's former developers, SafeMonk does not fit into the focus of the parent company, SafeNet.
